TO END ALL WAR:
OPPENHEIMER & THE ATOMIC BOMB
I worked as an art director with the amazing team at Creative Mammals to develop the graphics for "To End All War: Oppenheimer & The Atomic Bomb," from NBC News Studios.
The documentary from Christopher Cassel, Executive Producer and Director for NBC News Studios, explores the life and legacy of Robert Oppenheimer, and was released in the lead-up to Christopher Nolan's film.
It featured interviews from Christopher Nolan, Bill Nye, grandson Charles Oppenheimer, Hiroshima survivor Hideko Tamura, and others.
THE STORY:
My first role in the project was to create storyboards and animatics for several of the narrative sequences in the documentary. I used Photoshop to design the scenes, and After Effects to time out the animatics.
THE SCIENCE:
My second role on the project was to design and animate a series of hand drawn graphics, explaining the science behind the story.
There was a research component to creating the science graphics that I don't often get to enjoy with my work, and I left the project with a deeper knowledge of the workings of fission and fusion reactions than I had previously thought possible.

THE RESULTS:
THE DOCUMENTARY RAN ON NBC
